Weekly Schedule

The Edge is a full-time program designed to offer a theological education, practical ministry training, and personal discipleship. Students will adhere to a weekly schedule that allows them to serve, lead, and learn in many different environments.

Prayer and Devotion

We believe that prayer is the focal point of relationship with God and personal growth. Every morning, students will participate in a time of devotion to meet with God and give Him the first fruits of their day. Additionally, each student will participate in corporate prayer meetings throughout the week.

Discipleship Groups

Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Each EDGE student is placed in a gender specific group that meets once a week. These groups study scripture, read books, and sharpen one another to pursue and obey Jesus whole-heartedly.

Chapel

Our students are constantly pouring out, but our Chapel service is a time for them to receive! Once a week, we gather to worship, pray, and hear from several of our Edge Staff and VWC Pastors.

Ministry Practicums

The EDGE allows students to experience all different areas of practical ministry. During the first eight weeks, students will rotate between the different ministries of the church to learn where their gifts and talents are best utilized. Some of these ministries include youth, children’s, outreach, prayer, and A/V production. Students will then be placed in a preferred area of service for the rest of the year to serve and develop their gifts.

Retreats

We will have various retreats throughout the year. Retreats focus on getting away from our daily life and routine in order to intentionally engage with God. In these settings and environments, we fully expect to encounter the Holy Spirit in powerful ways. We also take time to grow in relationship with one another through various competitions and activities.

Ascend Prayer Summit

Ascend Prayer Summit is a weekend designed for youth & young adult pastors to draw close to God and build relationships with other leaders from across the country. The Edge students are the main facilitators of this event as we provide an opportunity for these leaders to spend time in prayer, fellowship, and encounter with the Lord.

Workouts

We believe personal health and fitness are key disciplines of Godly men and women. Students will participate in weekly workouts to maintain a healthy physical body and will be tested quarterly in order to track growth in fitness. Students also receive local gym memberships that allow them to workout as they have time in their schedule.
